Dog parks in the works--Mid county

This page offers community reports on news, events, and developments from municipalities actively exploring and advocating for the creation of off-leash recreation areas in their neighborhoods.

Mid county communities include:

Brentwood

Brentwood is currently working on a new Comprehensive Plan for the City and Barb Hughes plans to get as involved as possible with the committee that has been appointed by the Mayor to be sure that a dog park is addressed.

The Public Works Committee determined that the best option for a dogpark in Brentwood is land in Hanley Industrial Park that may be “bought back” by Metropolitan Sewer District and turned back to the City to use as park land.

To help fix the issue of using part of this land for a dog park in the minds of the aldermen, we encourage you to:

  • E-mail the Brentwood Community Coordinator, Barbara Hughes, to get your name on the “master” list of residents that support creation of a dog park, and
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY, contact your Alderman - now and frequently - so that they will know that this IS something the RESIDENTS of Brentwood want.

Let's make this an ALDERMAN ELECTION / RE-ELECTION ISSUE!!If you do not know who your Alderman is, please contact Brentwood City Hall, 962-4800, or look on the Brentwood website for Boards, Agendas, and Minutes

One committee member is also involved with the Hanley Industrial Board and she is hoping to meet directly with them since the land that has been unofficially designated by the City for a dog park is located in Hanley Industrial Park (the MSD buy-back land).

Contact Barbara Hughes for the latest information.
