Success of K-9 Splash means making a
name for ourselves

The K-9 Splash in Chesterfield succeeded beyond expectations. Because the West County group provided all the volunteers, Dogparks of Greater St. Louis generously dedicated the funds from the event for the exclusive use of the West County group.

The next meeting of the West County Chapter is Wednesday, October 5, at the Thornhill Branch of the St. Louis County Public Library, from 7-9 P.M.
Agenda (PDF)
Like jumping into a cold pool, becoming an independent nonprofit can be energizing.
Now that we have funds to operate on our own, we need to officially form a separate Missouri nonprofit corporation.

Before incorporating as a Missouri nonprofit, we need a unique name. Help us choose a name by responding to a survey. Click on this survey link and choose the name you like best, or write in one you think would be good.

Creve Coeur

Our proposal for off-leash recreation in Conway Park was submitted to the City of Creve Coeur in mid August, and has generated interest and independent research from the Creve Coeur city administration. However, no official results or statements have been issued confirming a project plan.

Creve Coeur did add a page to their website, City Considers Dog Park, announcing their intention to research the concept and offering an email address to those who would like to express interest in having a dog park in Creve Coeur.

So go ahead and do it! Keep interest in off-leash recreation in Creve Coeur alive by contacting the Creve Coeur City Administrator's office. If you live in a community with recreation agreements with Creve Coeur, it couldn't hurt to add your voice to the chorus, too.

Final thoughts
West County DOGS logo A new name, independence, self-governance...for a nonprofit corporation these words represent change, responsibility, and opportunity. Heady stuff!

But in the words of Greek philosopher Heraclitus, "It is through change that we find purpose." For West County D.O.G.S., the change starts with a new name, a unique identifier that symbolizes our shared purpose.

And with everyone's input, we can find one that fits us.
